Rallarvegen is most common to experience behind the wheel of a bicycle. As one of the most popular bike rides in Norway, about 20,000 cyclists cycle this route annually. The trip takes you from 1000 masl to 1340 masl before ending up at sea level in Flåm. In other words, it is mostly downhill, which means that you can just appreciate the fantastic nature and really enjoy yourself along the way.
The whole route is 79.4 km and lasts about 10 hours, but there are short-term alternatives where you can, for example, combine a train ride with Flåmsbana and a bike down again to Flåm to experience the last part of Rallarvegen.

If you need something extra, you can also rent bicycle bags, luggage trolleys and child trailers. Note that off-road bicycles and luggage trolleys are only rented from Haugastøl. Helmets are not rented out, but can be bought at half price when you rent a bike.
If you are going to cycle Rallarvegen with children, we recommend choosing the stretch from Haugastøl to Finse. This stage is 27 km long and takes about 3-4 hours. The terrain is generally in good condition, and well suited for children's trolleys. If you want to cycle the entire Rallarvegen route, children should be over twelve years old.
Along the road there are many streams you can safely drink water from, but avoid meltwater from glaciers or snowdrifts. Remember to bring patch items with you - and wear a helmet.

If you want to cycle some stages, you can take the bikes on the train and hop off at the place you want to start. Along the route there are also pleasant accommodations.
The season usually starts in July and lasts until the end of September. Note that in July there may be some snowdrifts along the road.
Rallarvegen is one of, if not Norway’s most beautiful cycle route. The route starts at Haugastøl and follows Bergensbana all through Finse, Hallingskeid and Myrdal before continuing along The Flåm Railway to the centre of Flåm.
